Here’s the fact: You don’t need a lot of ingredients or spices to make things tasty. If you use a few ingredients properly, it can make a heaven-like recipe in a short time perfect for busy nights or weekend family dishes. In today’s, chicken thigh recipe with ranch dressing, we will be using only 4 ingredients in total.
But don’t worry it won’t disappoint you. This recipe is so delicious that if you try it once, you will be addicted to it. I make these thighs at least once a month just for their amazing taste.
Why You’ll Love This Ranch Fried Chicken Thigh Recipe
As I said before, I love them for their taste. Not for the taste only but for the simplicity of the recipe and the time it takes to make.
In this recipe, we have used Hidden Valley’s Ranch Seasoning which contains a lot of ingredients like salt, garlic, pepper, and other spices to a perfect ratio.
This single ingredient gives the perfect taste to this ranch chicken thigh recipe. By the way, we have used chicken thighs with bone-in and skin-on. Using bone-in and skin-on chicken thighs has a lot of benefits. First of all, bone-in chicken thighs have richer flavor compared to bone-less chicken thighs.
The bone also helps to retain moisture, giving the meat a savory taste while cooking and keeping it more tender and juicy.
The main thing I love about cooking skin-on chicken thighs is that the skin, when cooked properly, crisps up beautifully, offering a crunchy, golden exterior that perfectly contrasts with the tender meat inside. This is the main reason, for which I and everyone love crispy skin-on chicken thighs.
Ingredients
Here are all the ingredients that you’ll need for your recipe:
- 4 Bone-in Skin-on chicken thighs
- Baking powder: We are adding the baking powder just to make the skin crisp up while baking.
- Garlic Powder
- Spicy Ranch Seasoning by Hidden Valle. I am using the one by Hidden Valley but you can have anything you want.
How to Make These Delicious Chicken Thighs
Here is the process of making this delicious chicken thigh recipe with ranch dressing.
First of all, clean and wash the chicken thighs properly and pat dry them with tissue paper.
Now take a bowl and add 1/2 teaspoons of garlic powder, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 2 to 3 table-spoons of ranch seasoning. Now mix them well.
After that add the mixture to the chicken thighs and mix them well. Make sure the chicken is well-coated with the powder mix you have just made.
Now lightly oil a foil-lined baking pan. I am using a foil-lined baking pan just to make the clean-up process easier and faster. Now, place the powder-coated chicken thighs on that pan.
Thereafter, bake them at 425F temperature for at least 30 to 40 minutes. For sure, you should use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken thighs. The internal temperature should be at least 165F.
While cooking baste the chicken things to keep them juicy. At last, when the internal temperature reaches 165F, the skin crisps up and the color of the thighs becomes mouth-watering, bring them out of the oven and serve them with rice, roasted veggies, or anything you want. For serving suggestions you can see our section completely dedicated to that.

Tips For The Tastiest Ranch Chicken Thighs
Here are a few tips that can significantly affect the taste and the overall recipe quality:
- Before adding the mixture, rub the chicken thighs with a little bit of oil. This makes sure that the spice gets stuck to the skin of the chicken while cooking, adding extra flavors to the recipe.
- As this recipe is super quick, I did not mention marinating in the main recipe. But yeah, marinating the chicken for at least 20 minutes can significantly improve its taste and flavor.
- The main benefit of using skin-on chicken thighs is having crispy skin at last. To get the proper things up, broil the chicken thighs for 2 to 3 minutes, at least.
- If you don’t have the ranch dressing, you can make it at home easily. All you’ll need for this is 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp dried dill, 1/2 tsp parsley, 1/4 tsp black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Just mix all these mentioned things together and you’re good to go. Yes, it might not give you the exact taste of the original ranch dressing, but it can be substituted for it.
Now, let’s move on to what can you serve with this chicken thigh recipe.
What To Serve With These Chicken Thigh Recipe with Ranch Dressing?
These delicious chicken thighs with ranch seasoning are very versatile and pair with almost everything from light and fresh to hearty and comforting. Here’s a mix of everything:
- Garlic Mashed Potatoes: Creamy, buttery mashed potatoes can balance the bold ranch flavors perfectly.
- Roasted Baby Potatoes: The roasted baby potatoes tossed with olive oil, herbs, and salt – just pair perfectly well with these thighs.
- You can also try a mix of roasted veggies like a mix of carrots, broccoli, zucchini, and bell peppers tossed in olive oil and roasted until they are caramelized. You can also have a low-carb alternative to mashed potatoes that still tastes creamy and satisfying.
- Besides you can also try some fresh and light sides like a garden salad with ranch, coleslaw or cucumber tomato salad with a little bit of olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and herbs.
Okay so, I hope you got a clear-cut idea about what to serve with this ranch-baked chicken thigh recipe. Now, after cooking it, if you get some leftovers, below I have mentioned the process of storing and reheating the leftovers perfectly so that you can eat them at any time you like and enjoy the freshness of the dish.
How To Store And Reheat Leftovers Perfectly?
If you have any leftovers, first of all, let the chicken things cool completely before putting them in the airtight container. After cooling completely, put them in an airtight container or wrap them tightly in a foil.
Now, you can store them in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. If you want to store them for more than 4 days, then you can use the freezer, which can keep the thighs good to eat for up to 3 months.
Here’s what you’ll need to do to reheat the recipe to get the proper texture and all. The oven method is the best one and I am sharing that here as well. First of all, preheat the oven to 375F. Now put the chicken thighs on a baking rack or foil-lined tray and heat them for 15 to 20 minutes until warmed through and skin re-crisps and you are good to go.
